Prime Minister Erna Solberg had the honor of test driving Norway’s first electric truck the day before it is commissioned.

– Fun, said Solberg about the very short drive on ASKO Norges parking lot in Oslo.

The company has 600 trucks to deliver foods for Norway Group. Now one of them is all electric. It will be inserted in the distribution around Oslo, as a pilot project. From next year the Group hopes also to have an electric truck in Bergen and one in Kristiansand.

– This helps to reduce CO2 emissions but it also addresses a lot of the local pollution problems, Solberg said.

She points out that transport constitutes a large part of the so-called non-tradable carbon greenhouse gas emissions. These are emissions Norway aims to reduce by 40 percent by 2030.
