Prime Minister Erna Solberg is referring to the open tax declaration system when she promotes Norway’s efforts to combat corruption.

For Norway transparency is the core of everything we do to combat corruption, was the message from Solberg to an international conference in London against corruption on Thursday.
– Norway has disclosed everyone’s tax returns every year since 1863. Yes, I said 1863, stated the Prime Minister in her speech to the conference of some 40 countries in London, where Norway was the only country invited from Scandinavia.
– And now you can also check who checks you out.
Solberg also pointed to the public service law as crucial in Norway’s efforts for transparency , and emphasized the work for openness also in the oil and gas industry. But  she admits that not even Norway is free of corruption cases after several Norwegian companies have been involved in major corruption cases abroad.
