A network router that has been sold in large numbers in Norway, contains a serious security hole.

The router is manufactured by Netgear and according to NRK news it is among the most popular with Elkjøp. It has also been on sale at Expert and Clas Ohlson.

– The security flaw means that by visiting the wrong website it can give unauthorized control over the router, says security advisor Erlend Oftedal and explains that this can also occur via social media or email.

He believes the safest thing that those who own this type of router can do is to disconnect it.
After the error was discovered, the American security monitoring center CERT asked users whether they can stop using the device and turn it off until a fix is ??ready.

– Netgear is now investigating what has been reported, and will update our website with more information when we have it. Right now we have nothing more to announce, said the printer manufacturer to NRK.

Currently, Netgear has published a security alert on its website in which they warn of a possible error.
