A foreign investment fund is trying to buy up the McDonald’s restaurants in Norway, Sweden and Denmark for 3.6 billion, according to a Danish newspaper.

The purchaser will operate the restaurants as a major franchise on behalf of McDonald’s Inc. The acquisition is discussed by E24.
Negotiations have been going on for one and a half years, according to the Danish newspaper Berlingske Business.
Basically, the fast food chain is looking for a Nordic purchaser and has demanded that the buyer come up with one billion in equity. This was later changed since it was difficult to find a buyer.
The situation on the domestic market in the United States is why McDonalds has wanted to sell the Scandinavian restaurants.
