The Government of Sweden makes a sharp cut in tax on solar power for their own use, which was introduced just a few months ago.
The turnaround comes after criticism from the opposition in parliament, writes the newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
Solar power currently accounts for only 0.1 percent of Sweden’s electricity production, but there is a hope for that form of energy in the future to play a greater role in reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.
Those who have several smaller solar panels that together have a production capacity of at least 255 kilowatts, must currently pay 29.2 Swedish Øre per kilowatt hour. Now the rate is lowered to 0.5 Øre.
Power Production for own use from smaller plants than this is tax-free already today and will remain so in the future.
