Preliminary passenger figures show that Norwegian has caught up with SAS, becoming Scandinavia’s largest airline.

Svenska Dagbladet has obtained preliminary passenger figures showing a total of 28.9 million passengers for Norwegian this year, compared with 29.2 million for SAS.

In 2015, there were around three million passengers separating the two companies. Now we see that the difference has shrunk to one-tenth.

By July last year, monthly figures already showed that Norwegian had more passengers than SAS. Soon, this may be the reality every year.

The Swedish newspaper points out that although Norwegian had almost as many passengers as its competitor; SAS is clearly the leader when looking at turnover.
