The newly built 336-meter long oil-tanker Eco Future was on Wednesday registered in the Norwegian Ships Register, NIS, along with the equally long sister-ship Eco Leader.
The two tankers belonging to the Norwegian shipping company Awilco and was built in South Korea by Daewoo Shipbuilding unit.
The Norwegian International Ship Register (NIS) now counts a total of 565 vessels which will be 30 more by the end of the year. Ships registered in NIS will receive Oslo endorsement on hedge.
International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted in 2011 to introduce the energy efficiency requirements for new vessels over 400 gross tons and these ships falls well within this legislation.
However, it is a good piece up to the world’s longest operational ships, Malta-registered container ship Barzan, which is measured as 400 meters long.
