The taxi service Uber have entered into a settlement agreement of 820 million kroner to continue the business model in which drivers are self-employed, no employees.

The settlement applies primarily to Uber drivers in the states of California and Massachusetts. The plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit have claimed that Uber drivers are employees and thus are entitled to reimbursement of expenses. The conflict has aroused great interest in Silicon Valley, where several companies operate under the same business model as Uber.

Uber is also established in Norway.
