26 people have been accused after an extensive doping action against private and fitness centers in Haugesund neighborhood Thursday night.

– About 60 police officers, half of whom were students, were involved. During the afternoon and evening, numerous private addresses and ten training centers were visited.

26 people were consequently charged, said police Chief Edgar Mannes in Haugesund in a press release Friday morning.

The police in South West confiscated both doping, drugs and money in the campaign, which spread over large parts of the old Haugaland and Sunnhordland police district.

Mannes says that police over time have received information that led them to take instant action against people they believe would contribute in spreading doping substances.

– Our primary purpose is to emphasize the fact that doping is illegal and that it entails a risk to get involved in doping.

Our main objective is primarily to prevent further use, says Edgar Mannes.

– We choose this form of action just to give attention to problem solving. In this way we hope and we believe that it can act as a deterrent, he said.
