Over 40,000 people have signed out from the church this year

Altogether this year, 40,900 people signed out of the Norwegian Church. Meanwhile, nearly 2,900 people joined.

Thus, the net figure for the members which church lost was about 38,000 people at the end of November this year. It shown from figures the Norwegian Church presented Thursday.

Top Month for sign out numbers was in August, when 25,743 people left it.
The reason is that on August 15th a solution launched that made it possible to arrange emigration and enrollment online.

At the beginning of 2016 the Church had 3.8 million members, according to Statistics Norway. This corresponds to 73 percent of the population.

The proportion of members in relation to the population has fallen by 4.4 percent over the past four years. The proportion baptized by share-born is of 57.8 percent.

Enrolment figures do not include this year baptized, around 34,000 children, but only reported as have been baptized in another denomination and people who join after previously having been resigned.
