90 mosques in Germany arevbeing monitored, confirms the head of the German surveillance police, Hans-Georg Maassen.
We are concerned that there are many Islamic organizations in Germany that we have to keep an eye on, said Maassen to ARD.
The German surveillance police is primarily monitoring what Maassen describes as ‘back-alley-mosques’ where imams are known to deliver fiery sermons in Arabic where they encourage jihad.
Maassen criticized in the interview a recent ruling in the German Supreme Court, which stated that some of the anti-terror laws that were enacted in 2009 are contrary to the citizens’ right to privacy.
The ruling does not take into account the great danger the extremist Islamist group IS poses to Germany, said Maassen, who says that the risk of terrorist attacks on German soil is now greater than ever.
