A passenger boarding ramp damaged by winds at Evenes airport

A passenger boarding ramp (tunnel) at Evenes airport terminal was exposed to such heavy winds on Sunday that tipped over, reports the TV 2 news agency.

The boarding ramp tipped over after all the passengers had boarded the almost fully booked plane. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.

“We did not notice that the ramp itself collapsed, but that’s because the plane was already being shaken by the wind,” says Anne Grete Øren, who was on the plane, to TV 2.

The entry door on the Norwegian airlines plane suffered considerable damage, but it is not known if there is any further damage to the aircraft. Due to the broken door, the company had to find the passengers another plane.

“The aircraft can not be used now, so we are working to find a new plane for our passengers as quickly as possible,” says Andreas Hjørnholm, Norwegian’s press officer to TV 2.

He is relieved that nobody was injured in the accident.

“The whole ramp is cracked by the wind. We are pleased that there is no personal injury, ” Hjørnholm concludes.
