Air pollution shortens the life of Osloites

Every year, 185 people in the capital prematurely because of air pollution, according to Public Health.

– They die earlier than they otherwise would have done if they had not been exposed to air pollution.

Most die due to an exacerbation of existing disease, cardiovascular disease or lung ailments, says Department Per Schwarze to NRK news.

It is the first time researchers have quantified the consequences of the bad air in Oslo. Every year Oslo’s people lose  1,753 healthy life years, showed calculations from Public Health done on behalf of the Public Roads Administration.
