Less alienation, several discussion platforms and increased involvement of the religious communities were among the suggestions for a dialogue between the government and several faith organizations.

– There have been many good suggestions for us to work on. There have been some common features, related to alienation and the need to take up difficult discussions in the communities, said Justice and Emergency Minister Anders Anundsen to the news agency NTB.

Together with Prime Minister Erna Solberg . he met representatives of a number of NGOs and religious communities to a meeting on Thursday on how to work against radicalization and violent extremism.

Their input will contribute to a further development of the national action plan on the topics that were presented in 2014.

– There have been discussions about how religious communities can contribute better and even create their own guidelines for how they can follow up in their own environments to detect radicalization, says Justice Minister.

Faten Mahdi Al-Hussaini in JustUnity, an organization working with prevention of radicalization and extremism, draws among other things attention to the need for Imams with Norwegian education as an important factor.

– Then they can learn the language and learn more about Norwegian values, so they can be Imams that youth look up to, she says.
