Among the hundreds of volunteer children and youth at the Mortensrud Festival, the Labor Party chose to start its long electoral campaign against the municipal elections next year.

“It is very inspiring to see so many volunteer children and young people performing such a great event,” said Jonas Gahr Støre when he was attending the Labor Party’s stand at the Mortensrud Festival on Saturday.

He came straight from the Swedish election campaign to the Norwegian election campaign. Sunday is one year to the date to the municipal and county elections in 2019.

“We are keen to be out with the people and will spend a lot of time here within this next year,” said the Ap-leader, who had to stop and take selfies with many of the participants at the festival.

Aps election campaign starts with stands across the country. In Oslo, red roses were distributed at 16 different places.

> Also the Right marks this weekend the start of the long election campaign. Around 750 Right-wing people gathered in Stavanger at the party’s municipal conference. And already Monday, Prime Minister Erna Solberg is on a big-city tour, where she will visit Oslo, Tromsø, Trondheim and Bergen in two days.
