UDI   will increase the financial support by 10,000 kroner to the first 500 asylum seekers who apply for voluntary assisted return, starting Monday. The arrangement will apply for six weeks.

We should encourage more people to return voluntarily by paying them a little more money that they can bring with them when they leave. This will save us a lot of money, it is expensive to have people in reception centers,  Immigration and Integration Minister Sylvi Listhaug said to NRK news.

Under this scheme, the asylum seekers who get the extra sum of money will receive 10,000 kroner in addition to the ordinary traveler support of 20,000 kroner.
To receive this additional sum  the applicant may not have exceeded departure deadline. The  applicant must also have arrived in Norway before 1 April this year and he or she must have had Norway as the first choice for country of asylum.
The Directorate of Immigration (UDI) states that the aim is to stimulate faster voluntary return of persons not entitled to protection in Norway. The scheme will be marketed through displays and posters in 31 municipalities.
