Minister of Health, Bent Høie of Høyre (H) wants to make changes to reimbursement regulations following criticism that the new regulations have made it difficult to obtain medical care abroad.
The reimbursement regulation is part of the changes that were introduced to insure competent employees.
In practice, however, the regulation has made it difficult for municipalities that tend to collect temporary workers from other Nordic countries to continue with this practice.
According to Nationen newspaper, Høie said that he understands the problems the regulations have created.
The case is being sent out for consultation now.
‘’We are going to conduct a quick consultation round before we make changes to the reimbursement regulations.
Then it will be possible to hire temporary workers for up to one year, for example in the summer.’’
Høie said the authorities have received a lot of feedback from municipalities and general practitioners who have been worried about whether they could put in place temporary workers for the summer due to the regulations.
‘’The regulations must be changed before the summer, and that means that the municipalities can plan for the changes that come’’ Høie promised.
