Christmas gifts stolen from Cathedral Square in Stavanger

Several packages people have put under the Christmas tree on Cathedral Square in Stavanger, has been stolen. The gifts were to be collected by the Salvation Army, and given to those in need.

A security guard reported the theft Sunday afternoon, according to the newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad.

According to the security guard he stopped a van on the site, and gifts were loaded into a car, before they disappeared.

– Security guards will have increased focus on this issue, wrote police in Stavanger on Twitter.

It is the Salvation Army who collects the packages put under the tree. The presents are given to children in poor families.
