Norwegian plans for a care center in Afghanistan that will accept returned unaccompanied asylum children, may become a Nordic cooperation project.

On Wednesday Minister of Immigration Sylvi Listhaug participated  in a Nordic ministerial meeting on refugee and asylum situation. She notes that Sweden, who received 35,000 unaccompanied asylum seekers last year, is interested in such cooperation, as is Denmark.
– We’ll work on finding out what we can do to find a good and practical solution. It would be an important signal to try to put a stop to this route, where younger people are sent on a dangerous journey by their families  ,  Listhaug said.
She points out that the project requires cooperation with the Afghan authorities.
The idea of such a center was first developed by the previous coalition government but have not been put into motion.
Return of asylum seekers will be granted residence in the Nordic countries was a central topic at the Nordic meeting in Stockholm, according to Listhaug.
