Crown Prince Haakon presented his own electric car, a Norwegian-produced Think from 2003, when he spoke during the German-Norwegian zero-emission forum in Berlin.
The Crown Prince held the opening speech on Friday.
He also spoke at the Green Leaders conference during the Greentech Festival in the same city.
The zero emission forum was held in the Nordic embassy facility in the German capital. The Crown Prince expressed great pleasure in joining the event, both personally and as a goodwill ambassador for the UN’s development program.
‘’I have great interest in the climate, green technology and innovation – not least in the transport sector. In fact, I got my first electric car in 2003. It was a black Think, made in Norway. It was very small, and it could get me back and forth to the office when it was new and it was summer.
Think cars are no longer made, but the need to think about our common future has never been greater’’ said the Crown Prince.
He pointed out Norway’s obligation to cut CO2 emissions by at least 40% by 2030 as being among incentives that have contributed to 7% of Norway’s passenger cars now being electric.
He also mentioned wind farms, like the one that German E. ON and Norwegian Equinor recently opened off the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea, as well as Norwegian electric ferries with German battery technology.
