In March, Crown Prince Haakon was operated on for osteochondrome in his ear canal. He must probably also operate on his other ear.
“I’m fine. It wasn’t dramatic. It is simply that the ear canals have been clogged, so I had an operation’’ he told NTB news.
‘’I must probably do the operation again, on the other ear.’’
So far it has not been decided when it will happen, but it may be in the autumn. The Crown Prince said the operation is not urgent.
The operation performed in March was termed a minor surgical procedure.
An osteochondrome, also known as exostosis, is a small bone growth and is the most common benign bone tumor that occurs according to Norsk Helseinformatikk. As a rule, this has no symptoms, but it depends on location and size. Cases have been reported in which osteochondria can be converted into a malignant tumor, but that is very rare.
‘’One of the things that can aggravate it is to be in cold water.
I was wind surfing when I was younger” he said, adding that the problems can also occur in people who have not been much in cold water.
The Crown Prince had a reduced program for two weeks as a result of the operation in March.
