Crown Princess UN anniversary in New York

The UN Development Programme (UNDP) turns 50 next week. Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit are on the guest list in New York.

The Crown Princess is taking a pre-Christmas trip to the United States and will be attending the anniversary of UNDP on Monday and Tuesday.

Crown Prince Haakon, who has been the goodwill ambassador for development since 2003, will make a speech at the event on Monday night, where author and actress Padma Lakshmi willl be the host.

In his work for the United Nations, the crown prince has visited a number of countries and has been particularly focused on the fight against poverty.

Wednesday will round off the crown prince and princess’ tour with an event on the implementation of the new sustainability goals at the International Peace Institute.
