Princess Mette-Marit will be seconded to Norad this month and in the autumn. It is 13 years since she interned there last.
I am very happy to go back and get some professional input and have many interesting discussions, said the Crown Princess in an interview with Eva Bratholm at the conference Norad Policy Forum on Tuesday. Crown Princess interned in Norad in 2003.
The theme of Tuesday’s conference was people living in extreme poverty, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit talked about her commitment to working with HIV and AIDS.
– There will always be individual destinies that makes you becomes very involved, and you wish that you could do something for them. It triggers an urgency for things to move faster, said the Crown Princess.
Mette-Marit was recently in Tanzania, where she met children of HIV-infected mothers. This happened under the auspices of the UN agency UNAIDS where she has been special envoy for many years.
Asked whether she is optimistic about the new sustainability goals of the United Nations being reached, the Crown Princess said that she cannot help but be optimistic.
– But I’m often a bit pessimistic, said the Crown Princess, before she added that the MDGs showed what we can achieve together.
