The Defense Ministers of countries participating in the fight against IS in Mosul, are meeting Tuesday in Paris to assess developments so far and discuss various future scenarios for the Iraqi metropolis.

Defence Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide is among those attending the meeting.
French President François Hollande also gathered last week with delegates from around 20 countries to discuss Mosul’s future.
– We should not look at Mosul as a place on the map, a military objective.
We should look at Mosul as a way to prepare tomorrow’s Iraq. If we are able to show this, we have not only won the battle, we have won the war, said Hollande during the meeting on Thursday.
Since the beginning of the operation on Mosul, IS has taken control of the town Rutba located in Anbar province in western Iraq according to the TV channel Al Jazeera.
Jihadists from IS also attacked the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, an attack which, according to local authorities, was fought back on Monday after three days of fighting.
