A 48-year-old man has been sentenced to eight years in prison in Larvik District Court for incest and violence against his two young daughters.

He is also ordered to pay 275,000 kroner to the youngest daughter, who was six years old at the time when the abuses, in accordance with the judgment started. The other girl, who was about nine years old when the abuses started, gets 250,000 kroner in compensation, writes Østlands-Posten.
The abuses, according to the verdict, took place in their family’s house in Larvik. The girls had been abused over a long period of time, they did not get enough food, and they were sexually abused in the morning after their mother had gone to work and before they had to go to school, said the ruling.
The school raised the alarm after noticing that the youngest girl had so many bruises for some time. Thus it was perceived as abnormal. The Child Care Department was notified twice, and the centre for battered wives was also engaged in 2012 when the woman and her daughters sought for help in connection with their father being violent. So the police and the Child Care Department took action in autumn 2014.
The 48-year-old refused to accept in court that he abused his daughters. He also denied being violent. The girls’ mother supported them at first. However, in the court room, she was on her husband’s side. The man has two weeks to appeal and the parents have lost custody of the children.
