So far this year UDI registered 2,526 asylum seekers to Norway, compared with over 31,000 in all of last year. still most people are from Syria and Afghanistan who are applying for protection in Norway.

Through the first nine months of this year 1566 men and 960 women came to Norway, of which more than 500 were children under six years old.

Broken down by each month, the highest number was in January when 413 asylum applications were registered, the figures are from the Directorate of Immigration (UDI).

In all the months after that they have received less than 300 applications a month and in September the section 264  of law applied for seeking asylum in Norway.

Apart from Syria and Afghanistan there is still the most applications from Eritrea and Iraq, where there is respectively 248 and 184 applications registered .

UDI announced in August that 7,000 seats at just over 50 refugee centers should be closed with effect from December / January. Since it is determined that the additional 3,800 seats are longer needed.

If the asylum influx continues at current levels, it will only get under 3,500 asylum seekers to Norway this year. that is one-tenth of last year’s number.

Based on UDI figures for what it costs to have an applicant reside in reception for one year, this one expense with the current influx alone is expected to be 5.6 billion lower next year than this year, according to calculations made news agency NTB in August.
