The Norwegian model for cooperation with the EU could be a model for others, says Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico.

Norway’s participation in the EU internal market through the EEA became a topic when Fico was visited by Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) in Bratislava on Tuesday.

– Relations between the EU and Norway can be a good model for others. Today we face the question of how the relationship between Britain and the EU should be in the future and then the Norwegian model might be something to consider, said Fico as the two held a joint press conference after the meeting.

In the summer Slovakia took over Presidency of the EU and thus become host to important meetings where the EU should chart a new model for brexit.

Solberg took the opportunity to highlight some thoughts from Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, who always spoke about the small nations reason.

– Smaller European countries must work together to solve common challenges we face. If small countries do not cooperate, they will always determine major issues, mentioned Solberg.
