Fraudsters cheating the elderly in Oslo

Police in Oslo have been notified by several elderly people of fake TV persons who met them and stole their bank cards and cash.

According to the police, the swindlers claimed to be from a TV company.

They enter into the homes of elderly people and steal cash and bank cards. Then the cards are drained of the cash.

Police are now warning people against letting strangers into their houses.

– These people contact the addresses of homes where they know elderly persons live and they claim to have come from a television company to get inside the houses.

Then they steal the possessions, especially credit cards said operations manager Marita Aune Oslo police to the newspaper VG.

On Thursday afternoon, within a few hours the police received three messages about impostors using the same method.

– After this they drain all the cash from the bank cards they stole from the elderly. We are talking about several thousand million Kroner that was taken, Aune says.

Police are investigating incidents of Munkerud, Grefsen and Sognsveien.

So far, the police have not any concrete descriptions of the people who are behind these elderly frauds that happened to elderly people. Police warn people to be aware of strangers who ring the doorbell.
