Fremskrittsparti’s (Frp’s) Per-Willy Amundsen and Christian Tybring-Gjedde do not believe there will be war between the US and Iran, but if so, they believe Norway should support the United States.

To Klassekampen newspaper, ’’Norway should always be prepared to assist the United States. We must always do that, even if it is a hypothetical situation now” said Frp’s former Justice Minister, Per-Willy Amundsen, who is now a member of the parliament’s Foreign and Defense Committee.

Frp’s foreign policy spokesman, Christian Tybring-Gjedde, said he wants sympathy with the United States if they render an Iranian attack.

“The US can’t accept being humiliated again” he said.

Amundsen has little faith in the nuclear agreement with Iran that the US withdrew from, and believes that Norway should be closer to the US than to the EU.

‘’There is much to indicate that Norway has unfortunately been on the
wrong side as regards the ability to reveal the Iran agreement. We have been more concerned with our European friends than standing with the United States’’ he said.

Both in terms of supporting an American attack on Iran and as a preferred alliance partner, Frp differs here from the governmental Høyre (H) party.

Ingjerd Schou (H) in the Foreign and Defense Committee, said Norway
must lean closer to the EU.

‘’Norway is benefiting from coordinating our policy with other European countries, especially with the EU’’ she said.
