A Norwegian plane heading to Bangkok had to make an emergency landing to get rid of a drunk 51 year old man who acted in a threatening manner. Now he risks a fine of 210,000 kroner.
The 51-year-old is charged with death threats against two fellow passengers and violating the provisions of the aviation law .
He was drunk already before boarding, but they considered that he would calm down and fall asleep. He did not, told fellow passenger Thore Marmo. An hour after we had passed Warsaw the captain decided enough was enough and the plane turned around, told Marmo.
The 51-year-old understood little of what was happened when six soldiers with machine guns and balaclavas arrived and escorted him out of the plane when it landed in the Polish capital.
In addition to having to attend Asker and Bærum District Court in June , Norwegian Air has demanded NOK 209.578 in damages.
-This is calculated to be the extra costs for the airline due to this non-scheduled stopover, said Communications Manager Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen in the airline.
The man’s defense lawyer Peder Morset did not want to comment on the case.
