Ten times as many women prefer vegetables on the grill. Men would rather have red meat, says a new study.

One in ten women prefer vegetables on the barbecue, while only one in a hundred men agree in the prioritization, according to a survey Sentio has performed for Nationen. Men prefer red meat, and every third man is grilling beef. This only applies to one in five women.

Matforsk Annechen Bugge think that men’s love of red meat may be because that prime rib is associated with masculinity and manliness. She also says that women eat more vegetables than men in general, which is because women are more health conscious than men.

– It is shown that this awareness is spreading among men.

The survey also shows clear age differences in barbecue habits of Norwegians. People over 55 prefer pork and fish, while those under 35 would rather have beef, chicken and vegetables on the grill.
