A girl has been stabbed by another pupil at a Christian high school in Bygland in Setesdal. The stabbing happened inside a dormitory at the boarding school.

The victim was sent to hospital by air ambulance after firstly being treated by paramedics on site. Police received a report of the stabbing at 08:01 on Monday morning.

‘Police were on the spot six minutes after the message came in; and have arrested who we believe to be the perpetrator. The condition of the girl is as yet unclear. She was transported to the hospital’, said Bård Austad, the chief of staff of the common operational unit of Agder Police.

Crime technicians and a tactical investigation team have been sent to Bygland.

The school is run by the Lutheran Evangelical Association (‘Indremisjonsforbundet’) and is a boarding school specializing in teaching the building trades, natural resource use, and sports.

‘Currently, we know little about what may have happened, except that it was a stabbing, involving two students inside the dormitory’, said the Principal, Steffen Røykenes, to newspaper Fædrelandsvennen.
