Never before has NASA registered a warmer month than this years’ July . Anthropogenic climate change is sending the temperature on Earth sky high.

According to NASA’s calculations , this year’s July  was 0.84 degrees warmer than the global average for the period 1950 to 1980.

This year’s July beats the previous heat records set in the same month in 2011 and 2015. In fourth place on the list of the hottest months is July 2009. August 2014 rounds off the top five list.

Scientists blame this mainly on human-induced climate change, in addition to the weather phenomenon El Nino.

This year  July is the tenth consecutive month of record warm temperatures.

– The scary things is that we’re moving into an era where we will be surprised every time a month or a year is not among the warmest recorded, says climate scientist Chris Field at the Carnegie Institution and Stanford University.
NASA temperature measurements are stretching back to 1880.
