There will be heavy rains with the possibility of thunder in Oslo and large parts of Eastern Norway on Sunday , the Meteorological Institute said.
Local heavy showers and possibly thunderstorms are expected from Sunday morning, and there may be 20 to 25 millimeters of rain in twelve hours, the Meteorological Institute says in an OBS forecast Saturday.
The rough weather that has been forecast in eastern Norway is to a certain extent connected with the violent weather that has devastated parts of France and Germany, meteorologist on duty Marit Helene Jensen told the newspaper Aftenposten.
– It comes from the southeast, through Sweden, but it won’t be quite the same way here that it has been there, she says, referring to the bad weather that has included many instances of lightning and in some places large hailstones.
The weather to come is like a “little brother” to that experienced in Germany and Poland, she says.
– We may get heavy showers, and there is small chance of thunder, but no massive thunderstorms, she says, adding that she believes there will be more thunderstorms on the Swedish side of the border, she said.
