600-plus global delegates have gathered for a 2-day EAT Stockholm Food Forum, jointly hosted by the Swedish government.

 

Each year, the Forum brings leaders from politics, science, business & civic fronts to forum, tasked with researching & disseminating information and best practices confronting the complex challenges of the global food system.

Yesterday, June 12th, the Forum heard His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of the Royal House of Norway speak to the assembled, saying “Food is not just nutrition. It is also a powerful tool for creating peace.” –

“We have a world in which there is violence, suffering, pollution and climate change, but also a world where there is knowledge, profound understanding, peace building, great courage & love.” –

GLOBAL CHANGE
“We all have the opportunity to change the world to something better. We can all make a positive influence,” said Norway’s crown prince.

In addition, Crown Prince Haakon told of his commitment as a goodwill ambassador to the UN’s development program and to the challenges facing large parts of the world,and also that the EAT Food Forum is a good starting point for global change.

5th ANNIVERSARY
Other forum speakers will include Sweden’s Minister for International Development, Deputy Prime Minister Isabella Lövin, Minister Nikolai Astrup of Norway, EAT founder Gunhild Stordalen, and World Bank chief Kristalina Georgieva.

The EAT Stockholm Food Forum is held yearly in Stockholm, Sweden. The Forum is enjoying its fifth year and today is the last day of the event.

EAT is a non-profit organization founded by the Stordalen Foundation, Stockholm Resilience Center and the Welcome Trust; organized to catalyze a transformation for the better within the global food system.
