Increasing numbers of new drivers apply for licenses only for automatic cars

Compared to last year, 4,000 more drivers have received a driver’s license only for automatic cars this year, reported NRK news.

During 2016, the number of driver’s licenses issued only for automatics increased each month.

The decreasing supply of stick-shift cars using manual transmission, and the costs associated with taking a driving license for stick-shift vehicles, may explain some of the change.

‘We have automatic cars at home, and those are what I have had practice with. Also, it was less expensive for me to take this kind of driver’s license’, 17-year-old Susanne Lone Ågensen told NRK news.
