A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years in detention for three assault rape and two attempted rapes in Oslo.

The verdict fell in Oslo District Court on Wednesday.
The rapes and rape attempts happened all in Oslo between 2007 and 2010. The man acknowledged in court that he had been in contact with the women, but has denied that rape was committed.

The prosecutor had submitted the claim for nine years of detention. Prosecutor Monica Krag Pettersen showed in his procedure for trial in August that the experts believed the defendant was very manipulative and has psychopathic traits and there exists a risk of recurrence.

The man came to Norway as an asylum seeker in 2005. When he fell to the attention of the police after the rape in 2010, he returned to his homeland. He was arrested last year after one of the women who reported him, recognized him on the street in Oslo.
