Kvelertak Concert gone by the wind in Stavanger

The organizer does not take the chance to proceed with the concert featuring Kvelertak (Stranglehold) due to the windy weather in Stavanger.

One of Norway’s biggest hard rock bands was supposed to entertain the outdoors audience in their hometown on Saturday night, during the Tall Ships Races festival – featuring their brand new vocalist, Ivar Nikolaisen.

That is not going to happen. On Saturday afternoon, the project management, in consultation with the municipality’s emergency department and the technical supplier, decided that they did not take the change to follow through with the concert.

– Safety assessments are behind the decision to cancel. We sincerely apologize for that. The combination of strong wind, wind direction and forecast precipitation for the evening can lead to dangerous situations. We can not risk that, says the Project Manager, Knud Helge Robberstad, in a press release.

At the same event, Børre Bratland, alias General Assembly, was also supposed to perform. That concert is likewise cancelled.

There is a cold front with lots of lightning and thunder just off the coastline. It is now heading inland in Rogaland, so it’s just to prepare for the thunderstorms, the Meteorological Institute reports to Stavanger Aftenblad.

The fireworks will be set off according to plan at 11 pm.
