The government has started an evaluation of whether the government is to be able to cancel its support of  religious communities that have been discovered to be repressive , according to Immigration and Integration Minister Sylvi Listhaug.

– We will follow up this resolution closely. I believe it is important that we consider using it in the fight against radicalization and violent extremism,  Listhaug (FRP) writes in an email to NTB.
On Thursday, after a somewhat confusing debate, a majority in the parliament voted in favor of drawing up a report on the proposal. However, the Christian Democrats are worried about the consequences  for religious freedom.
– We have received questions from denominations if we are going to start a thought police,  Christian Democrat Geir Toskedal explained in Stortinget on Thursday.
Listhaug will not comment on whether she shares this concern.
– We are making the report and we will be able to say more about that issue, when the report is finished. But our  main target is religious communities that promote crime and  other dangerous activities. And that’s unacceptable in any case, she writes.
