The former local politician representing the Norwegian Labour Party (Ap) was arrested in October 2016 in connection with the Dark Room operation conducted by the West Police District.

According to the indictment, the man has for several years paid for direct transmission of footage that includes offenses against very young children. All the actual sexual abuse has taken place in the Philippines. The crimes are punishable with up to 21 years imprisonment.

– There are a large number of crimes involved according to the indictment. We must therefore come back to the details when we’re in court. The frame of up to 21 years is related to the extent of the indictment, Attorney General Magne Kvamme Sylta tells NRK.

The 47-year-old denies culpability for a majority of the accusations, according to his defense lawyer, Jannicke Keller-Fløystad.

– The indictment is based on chat logs and money transfers. There has been recorded evidence related to two children only. Those recordings has strengthened the accused man’s testimony, she informs NRK.

The case will be brought before the Bergen District Court on September 17th.
