At Voss, Geilo, Sjusjøen, and at Hafjell, large amounts of snow are reported in the ski resorts towards Easter.
In the aforementioned places, ‘Skiinfo’ reports at least 100 centimeters of snow in the next few days.
For Gaustablikk, Tryvann and Galdhøpiggen it looks somewhat heavier. At Gaustablikk it is reported there are about 50 centimeters of snow, and on Tryvann there are 40 centimeters. At the Galdhøpiggen summer ski center, there is no snow reported, but here, the planned opening of the seasonis on May the 18th.
‘’Plus minus one hundred runs are open and have good conditions on the slopes’’ said General Manager, Camilla Sylling Clausen in the Alpine Landsforsens Association to Yr news.
It is the night frost that keeps alpine slopes alive, even though the snow melts every day.
27 small slopes around the country are closed because of too little snow. The larger slopes have stored large amounts of snow, which makes them well prepared for late Easter.
‘’There is generally less snow than normal on the glaciers in Jotunheimen. One should be extra careful when skiing or walking on glaciers at Easter and in the spring was the warning from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE).
