A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to seven months imprisonment for having organised an organization to help foreigners to illegally enter Norway.

The 26-year-old man was arrested at Bergen Airport with another man on December 16 last year wrote Bergens Tidende newspaper.

The man travelled with his own travel documents, while the other man travelled with a passport that was not his.

The 26-year-old was charged with trafficking in human beings, but Bergen District Court concluded that the convicted man had no central role in human smuggling.

On the other hand, they believe that his contribution appeared to be necessary for the smuggling to be carried out practically wrote the newspaper.

The men arrived in Flesland from Amsterdam via Stockholm. The 26-year-old said in his explanation that he came from Athens to Amsterdam to surprise an uncle. He further explained that he was talking to a man who was going to Bergen and was offered a free flight.

The man who arrived without his own passport, had stated that he wanted to apply for legal residence in Norway after receiving a refusal of an application for family reunion. He said he learned that there were many human smugglers in Athens, and that the 26-year-old would follow him to Norway.

The court found it proved beyond any reasonable doubt that the latter’s explanation is the correct one according to the newspaper.
