A Man found dead after fishing boat accident in northern Norway

A man in his 40s, who was found in the sea in Lødingen municipality, was pronounced dead Friday afternoon.

The man was pronounced dead by a doctor at the quay where he was brought ashore, NRK reported.

Exploration action to find a missing man initiated after an empty fishing boat was found on the shoreline at Katnessbukta in Vestbygd, Lødingen municipality Friday morning.

The police were notified about the incident in on Friday 9 o’clock. After suspicion that the operator may have fallen overboard, in consultation with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre North Norway searching initiated in both onshore and offshore including four boats.

– The man was found about 1.7 nautical mil from there smack stood with the engine running on the shore, said rescue leader Jakob Carlsen at HRS to NRK news.

The case is now being investigated by Northern Norway police district and State Accident Commission.
