Oso Hotwater warns Norwegian households of a defect in its water heaters that can lead to overheating and fire.

In late March  a woman in her 70s perished  in a residential fire in Harstad. The investigation concluded that the cause of fire was  a connection point on the water heater growing too hot, NRK news writes. There are reports of 20 other fires in homes with the same heater.
The manufacturer behind the hot water tank has decided to send out a warning to all Norwegian homes.
– It has been difficult for us to identify each individual buyer. We have therefore, after talks with the police in Harstad, decided to send out a general warning to all households in the country as soon as possible so that they can report to us if they have one of the  heaters in question,  general manager of Oslo Hotwater in Norway, Sigurd Braathen, says.
The tanks where the defect has been found, are tanks manufactured between 2009 and 2011. In 2013, the company sent out a warning about the risk of overheating in the electrical coupling of the hot water heaters. Then they only received replies from 30 percent of those who owned that type of tank.
30,000 water heaters of the type with the defect now warned against have been sold.
