The Germany’s Prime Minister Angela Merkel expects that the refugees from Iraq and Syria return home when the war in their home countries are over.
– It is important to emphasize that it is only temporary stay and that we expect you to go home when Syria is at peace, and when IS is defeated in Iraq, Merkel said during a party meeting of CDU in Neubrandenburg Saturday.
She reminded us that 70 percent of the refugees who came to Germany from the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s returned home when the war was over.
Merkel has received strong criticism in Germany, also in her own party, for being too liberal in the matter of the asylum applicants from Syria.
Germany received 1.1 million asylum seekers last year, and 40 percent of those surveyed in a recent survey think Merkel should resign as a result of a failed asylum policy.
