Mohammad sentenced to prison for two and a half years

Islamist Mohyeldeen Mohammad has been sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for threats to the Liberal party’s (Venstre) parliamentary deputy leader, Abid Raja.

The messages, where Mohyeldeen writes that Raja must burn in hell, were sent in September 2016.

The verdict is in line with Attorney General Frederik G. Rank’s statement.

Mohyeldeen Mohammad has been in custody while the charges against him have been dealt with in Oslo District Court. He has denied guilt when the case started.

“I have never threatened him, and to say what I think of him, I find it’s within the freedom of expression. To say ‘you pig, go to hell’ is not an everyday commonality but we say this in Norway,” said Mohammad, who has lived in Norway since he was three years old.
