The woman who is in her 30s is from Bergen, and who is charged with trying to kill her three young children, is detained for four new weeks, writes Bergensavisen.

The woman contacted the police in the end of January and told them what she had tried to do to her children, who are all in kindergarten age. The children appeared to be unharmed, but the police believe there are good reasons to suspect that the woman had tried to kill them a couple of nights in January.

The woman is to be struggling mentally, and a central issue in the investigation is whether she can be charged lawfully. During questioning, there is no grounds for motive for her actions. Forensic psychiatrists will now examine the mental health of the mother of three.

The woman’s defender, lawyer Ellen Eikeseth Mjøs, has characterized the case as a great personal tragedy. She has informed Bergensavisen that the woman is still sick and that she is being taken care of by health services. The children are being taken care of by family members.
