The NATO exercise in Norway costs Germany 90 million euros

German taxpayers will have to pay 90 million euros for their country’s participation in the NATO exercise, Trident Juncture.

 

The sum is close to around 850 million Norwegian kroner at today’s rate. The figures were obtained from the German Defense Ministry of DPA.

About half of the money goes to the Norwegian host for preparation of land for the exercise, Norway also stands for catering and accommodation of the soldiers.

Transport and equipment also equal to a huge expense for the German quota.

The main part of Trident Juncture begins this Thursday, and around 50,000 soldiers from 31 countries are going to participate. This exercise is the biggest of its kind since the end of the Cold War. Along side the United States, Germany is the country that contributes the most soldiers, about 10,000.
