Norwegian authorities have chased the case and will speed up the transfer  from Ecuador of a drug sentenced  woman from Southern Norway.

– That I experience as positive. This means that our government is keeping informed and is concerned about her case, says the woman’s Norwegian lawyer, Nils Grønås to the newspaper Fædrelandsvennen.

The woman is serving a sentence of ten years in prison for attempting to smuggle three kilograms of cocaine from Ecuador in February 2014. She has always claimed that she was tricked and did not know about the drugs hidden in the suitcase. The woman from Southern Norway has already been imprisoned for over two years.
Grønås said to the newspaper that the challenge of the transfer is to get the authorities in Ecuador to accept Norwegian rules on parole of inmates.
– If we get turned down on the transfer, a request for clemency could be a way to go, says the lawyer.
