Norway continues to fall on a ranking of countries’ efforts to combat climate change. Our efforts are now described as “bad”.
Over the past few years, Norway has gradually dropped in the rankings as measured by the German Watch and Climate Organization. We find Norway on the 38th place in the updated version of the list.
The first three places on the list are however empty, because organizations believe no country earns a medal. So, Norway’s 38th place is in fact the 35th.
Since last year we have dropped two places, and the Norwegian effort described as poor. This is the same character, granted to Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine and the USA.
– The main reason that Norway is worse is that the emissions from the oil industry has almost doubled since 1990, says Conservation Association leader Silje Lundberg in a statement.
In 2013 Norway located on 24th place in the ranking. In this year’s ranking, which was presented Wednesday at the climate meeting in Morocco France and Sweden are on top. Denmark is in 13th place.
